Anwar saman New Straits Times kerana fitnah beliau..

Dah nak sama tarafnya New Straits Times dengan Utusan Malaysia nampaknya.. mungkin kerana edisi cetak Utusan Malaysia kurang mendapat sambutan maka UMNO terpaksa menggunakan New Straits Times pula..

PRESS RELEASE: Anwar issues legal demand to NST on false allegation of transfer of monies

I refer to the report published by the New Straits Times on 12 June 2012 alleging that oppostion leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had ordered a bank CEO to transfer monies to other accounts.

These are politically motivated allegations which were falsely and maliciously published by the UMNO-owned newspaper.

The report was published prominently in the front page under the headline " Anwar gave order', in an attempt to cause maximum political damage to the opposition leader.

We note with concern an escalating trend of false and dishonest reporting by BN owned media which is seriously undermining the right of the public to fair reporting. In the circumstances Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has today through his solicitors issued a demand to the New Straits Times Press(M) Bhd and its editor calling for the allegations to be withdrawn, and a correction and apology be published in the front page of the NST.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also demands an undertaking from the NST not to publish any further such false allegations and claims damages.

In the public interest, we call upon Prime Minister Najib and the BN to cease further false and libellous personal attacks upon opposition leaders, and instead fairly debate us on national policies and issues.

N SURENDRAN
